How many beautiful villages in GuangZhou are unknown to people? Recently the awarding ceremony of the Sightseeing and Leisure Agricultural Model Villages was held in Xijing Village, Xiaolou Town, Zengcheng Municipality. Twelve villages were awarded the honour.

It is said that there were 19 candidates for the selection of the most beautiful villages in Guangdong. The 12 villages selected have their own characteristics, which range from sound local economy, peaceful life, neat and tidy environment, ecological-friendliness, unity and harmony to the function of sightseeing, fruit plucking, experience, selling, leisure, vacationing, amusement, education, etc.

The 12 villages selected will be supported by the government financially to develop the local eco-tourism. The title of the most beautiful village will be valid for three years. After the three years, their qualification as the model villages will be reviewed and reevaluated by the expert panel organised by the Guangzhou Agriculture Bureau and the Agriculture Bureaus at district level.
