With the transformation of GuangZhou’s old airport into a new and modern district, the municipal authorities have decided that Baiyun New Town shall host the city’s first charging station for electric cars.

The charging & parking station covers an area of 30,000 square metres and can hold up to 1000 vehicles. The station will use DC power, capable of recharging a car’s battery within half an hour.

According to the “Electric Vehicle Development Programme” recently announced by the Guangdong Government, Guangzhou and shenzhen are to take the lead in building public charging stations for electric vehicles. Shenzhen has already several charging stations which are operational.
