The 109th china Import and Export Fair closed on May 5. According to Liu Jianjun, spokesman for the fair, the export turnover increased by 5.8% over the previous session, reaching 36.86 billion USD. Export to the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa) countries experienced the fastest growth of 30.1%.
By May 4, all together 207,103 buyers from 209 countries and regions have attended the 109th Canton Fair, representing a 3.93% increase in buyers attending from the 108th session, and up 1.52% from the 107th session. Significantly buyers from ASEAN and BRICS countries increased by 21.4% while the United States, Europe, Japan and Hong Kong saw a drop of 3.6%, 15.1%, 9.96% and 3.2% respectively.
The number of buyers from the Middle East area recorded a slight decrease of 1.53% due to the volatile situation those countries are currently experiencing. Thus it can be seen the major dynamics of this fair was the number of Asian buyers attending, a total of 118,238, which accounted for 57.1% of the total buyers present.
