Wan Qingliang, Mayor of GuangZhou, went to Hai Xinsha Square for inspection on July 26. 96 percent of the principal part of the project of the venue for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Asian Games has been completed and the total project will be finished by the end of August.

Later on the day, Wan checked the construction of the Central Square north to the venue. The Central Square within Zhujiang New Town links Hai Xinsha Square through Huangpu Dadao. The greening of the square and brick-laying are under way.

Wan Qingliang said that the Central Square was like the meeting hall of Guangzhou and could be decorated with 500 trees, including rare species, old and big ones. In this way, the central square will be a tree park popular with Guangzhou resident.

The construction company has reserved room for LED screens in the square. Wan said LED screens would be installed in major public places in the whole city to provide residents with places to watch the ceremonies and major sports events together.
