The first GuangZhou Brown Earthen Pottery Cultural Festival opened on July 29 at the Guangzhou Jinhan Exhibition Centre. Co-organised by the Yixing Pottery Industry Association and the Guangzhou Southern china Tea Merchants Federation, the festival is a move to rescue the industry’s reputation in the aftermath of the “brown earthen teapot” incident; therefore, many artisans are involved in the festival, including more than 20 national-level masters and over 200 national-level senior artists.

During the festival, a large number of new browse brown earthen teapots will be unveiled, including the Happy Mascot, a gift designated by the Asian Games Organising Committee, and the Tai Chi Auspicious Teapot, which has taken the Ziyuan Company three years to develop. An auction of the teapots is also planned.
