GuangZhou’s price regulator announced on July 28 the fares for the northern extension of the Metro Line 3, and extensions of Metro Lines 2 and 8, the northern extension of Metro Line 4, the Guangzhou-Foshan metro link, and the Automated People Mover System (APM) at Zhujiang New Town, all of which will be put into service ahead of the Asian Games.
The maximum fare for a single trip on Guangzhou’s metro system is set at 19 yuan. Tickets for the full journey between Kuqi Road Station in Foshan and Guangzhou’s city centre are priced at 16 yuan. Passengers at the south and north Airport Stations will pay an extra two yuan. The fare for the APM at Zhujiang New Town is set at 2 yuan. With more services on the metro system, Metro Line 2 will be split into Metro Line 2 and Metro Line 8.
During the Asian Games, Guangzhou’s metro system will have eight lines in operation with a total length of 235.7 kilometres and 148 stations. More than 80 percent of Asian Games venues, as well as the airport and railway stations, will be accessible from the metro lines. The metro system is expected to carry 8 million passengers a day during the Games.
