All stations on Metro Lines 2 and 8 were opened to the press on August 17. The GuangZhou South Station is currently the largest metro station in Guangzhou, so large that it takes 10 minutes to walk from one end to the other. The two turnstiles are about 100 metres apart and there are 13 entrances and exits. Media reports also indicate that 66 of the 72 exits at the 19 stations on Metro Lines 2 and 8 will operate in sync with the trains, and that, on average, three exists will be open at each station on schedule.

Guangzhou South Station: With a gross floor area of nearly 50,000 square metres, the Guangzhou South Station is largest one on the metro line, boasting the largest number of entrances and exists and escalators. The station will connect to the planned Guangzhou Metro Line 7 and 20, Foshan Metro Line 2, the Wuhan-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, the Guangzhou-shenzhen-Hong Kong Line, the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Huizhou Line, the Guangzhou-zhuhai Line and the Guangzhou-Foshan Line. It is a two-level hub station with connections to the intercity transport system and the high-speed railway.

Nanpu Station: A hub station for city transport with a car park and a platform on either side of the track.

Nanzhou Station: Located at the intersection of Nanzhou Lu, this station provide seamless connections to Metro Line 2, the second phase of the Guangzhou-Foshan Line, the Haizhu passenger transport station, which is a hub for intercity transport, and street-crossing passages.

Changgang Station: This is a station for transferring to Metro Lines 2 and 8. The branching-out of Metro Lines 2 and 8 and the adjacent Guangzhou-Foshan Line, which is about to open, will make this station a new shopping centre for Guangzhou.

Jiahe Wanggang Station: This station is directly connected to the airport and railway station, from where passengers can go on to their destinations across the country. It’s also directly linked to the high-speed railway at the Guangzhou South Station.
