“Si (四)” means four in chinese. It is an ominous number, for the phonetic “si” has a similar pronunciation with the word die (死) in Chinese. Accordingly, one will rarely come across any places or roads that include “Si.”
Near the wharf in the Haizhu District, there is presently a street called “Hai Tian Si Wang (海天四望)” which represents the opportunity for one view the ocean scenery from all four directions. Although the name is attractive, the landscape to view in this particular area is not impressive.

“Si Fang Pao Tai (四方炮台)” the Fort Quartet, was a major Fort in the Anti-Britain war 160 years ago. The Fort stands on Yuexiu Mountain with the Zhenhai Tower and the Five Rams statue, forming a cultural landmark and important landscape.
