As one of the worldwide conferences of science museums, the three-day ASPAC (Asia Pacific Network of Science & Technology Centers) has chosen its venue at the GuangZhou-based Guangdong Science Center (GDSC) this year. Its opening ceremony was held yesterday (May 18), with 400 attending from 18 countries and regions.

ASPAC is considered one of the most important and vibrant associations of science center/museum, its annual conference has been held since 1997. Now it returns to the chinese mainland after the first session in Beijing 14 years ago.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Mamoru Mohri, president of ASPAC, and Chief Executive Director of Miraikan, Japan, explained the association’s three aspects of work, namely information exchange through internet, touring exhibitions among museums and staff exchange.
