As the main artery of transportation in GuangZhou, with a total length of 110 miles, covering 1.3 million square metres, the Inner Ring Road which includes one main road and 6 radial roads, will be repaired and renovated from July 16 to September 30, 2010.

The Inner Ring Road was built and put into use 11 years ago. Due to the long time overuse, the main road, radical roads and bridge decks have been damaged in varying degrees. For the sake of safe transportation for the citizens,, the Inner Ring road shall be repaired and renovated.

The construction department of Guangzhou Municipal Government has greatly realised the difficulty in implementing this project, which undoubtedly shall top all comprehensive administrative projects for the Asian Games. Both traffic directing and construction organising will face “big problem”. By consulting respectively and repeatedly with the transportation department, urban administration, and traffic department, it is decided that the repair and renovation work shall be implemented with different road and time sections and with closed and semi-closed road alternatively, regarding opening transportation to the largest degree as a fundamental rule and establishing a series of measures to relieve traffic congestion. Meanwhile, the authorities hope the residents understand the inconvenience caused by the construction, pay close attention to the information on traffic flow and make arrangements for their routes ahead of time.

Line A will be first under reconstruction and Line B will follow after complement and reuse of Line A. The radial roads will simultaneously be under reconstruction.
