The four campuses of Jinan University locate in three cities, GuangZhou, shenzhen and zhuhai. The latter two, adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao respectively, are two special economic zones in china and always take a leading role in the economic development in China.

The main campus of Jinan is in Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong Province and the biggest metropolis in South China.

1906 Jinan School, the predecessor of Jinan University was established in Nanjing. 1927 Jinan School was renamed Jinan National University.

1941 Jinan National University moveed to Jianyang,Fujian Province during the Second World War. 1958 Jinan University was re-established in Guangzhou. 1996 Jinan University was selected into the 100 key universities in China. 2006 Jinan University will celebrate her centennial anniversary.

Jinan University has 61 Bachelor Degree majors offered in 46 departments of 20 colleges and schools. The courses offered here cover almost all the academic disciplines. Under guiding principle of “open to the overseas and the regions of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan”, the university makes efforts to the construction of 211 Project and improves the teaching quality

Currently there are 38,078 students in this university, including 27,171 full-time students, 7,793 graduates and 18,700 undergraduates.
