A refreshing breeze will blow on a hot summer’s August 4 when Joe Hisaishi’s masterpieces reverberate through the Xinghai Concert Hall. Pianist Tan Xiaotang (谭小棠) will bring you to Joe Hisaishi’s fantasy world of music.

Joe Hisaishi’s compositions are appreciated by many music fans. He has composed many popular pieces for Takeshi Kitano’s films and Hayao Miyazaki’s animations. Similarities are easily found among many of them. The theme music of this concert – Summer, is the winner of the Outstanding Achievement in Music at the 2000 Japanese Academy Awards.

Pianist Tan Xiaotang is an active pianist. Born in 1979 in Beijing, he has given performances at many music festivals, and has been champion at the top piano contests in china, Japan and France. In 2008, he dedicated his passion for music by recording the piano part for the theme songs of the Beijing Olympics.
