GuangZhou Mayor Wan Qingliang called an executive conference on June 21 to discuss preparations for the special “Guangzhou Day” at the Shanghai World Expo.

This special day will fall on July 25, when the model of the Asian Games Mascots “5 Yang” will be showcased in Shanghai.

At the conference, officials resolved to take advantage of the special day to promote the city and the Asian Games and to make the best use of the expo for PR initiatives.

Guangzhou will optimize the exhibits at the Guangzhou Pavilion, conduct exchanges with other pavilions, and host special enterprise day events. Plans will be formulated for the relocation of the pavilion to Guangzhou after the expo and for its subsequent operations. Site selection for the Guangzhou and Guangzhou pavilions in Guangzhou will start in coming weeks. The intangible resources arising from the exhibition at the expo are set to inject new energy in the city’s socio-economic growth.
