The “Moments of the GuangZhou Asian Games,” a show to represent the condensing opening of the games began from April 29. On average 80 percent of the seats have been sold each night despite the recent rainy weather. Fireworks in the rain add to the mystery of the show.
The show lasts about one hour with four marvelous parts in the opening. Scenes with Lingnan elements including Kapok flowers, Chen Clan Academy and Cantonese Opera are designed to project on the four huge screens. If judged by the audiences applaud, The Red Kapok Dance and a ship “sailing in the water” are the favorite spectacles. Differing from the Asian Games opening, the shows welcome five random spectators to act as torch bearers each night.
