Residents living in Jinshazhou area can enjoy subway transportation locally in the near future. Sources said on July 20 said the plan of integrating GuangZhou-Foshan-Jinshazhou had been published, which states that Foshan would reserve the west-stretching aisle of Metro line No.12 (the originally planned line from Yagang station to Guanhu station) to connect Nanhai in Foshan. It suggests the north stretching line of Guangzhou Metro line No.6 may well be connected with the west-stretching line of Metro line 12 for more convenient interchange between stations, and the north stretching line of Metro line 13 be stretched to the Baiyun Lake area of Guangzhou. This plan also includes the construction of schools, hospitals and other public facilities in the Jinshazhou area and the schedule of construction.
It is understood that this long-sighted plan of integrating Guangzhou-Foshan-Jinshazhou was advocated by both the Guangzhou Planning Bureau and Foshan City-country Planning Bureau and compiled by the Foshan Urban Planning and Designing Institute and the Guangzhou Urban Planning Institute. It was based on the influence of Jinshanzhou to its neighboring areas, the geographical boundaries and the joint consultation of Guangzhou and Foshan. The development area covers Yagang South Road to the north, Guangzhou-Foshan Road, Fangcun Road West and Zhujiang Bridge to the south, the first ring-road of Foshan to the west, and Guangqing Highway, Zengcha Road and Inter-ring Road to the east. The total area of this well coordinated plan measures 72.7 square kilometers. The key area for integrating is the whole of Xunfengzhou Island, which consists of Jinshazhou, Lishuijincaozhou and dalihai north, which cover some 26.8 square kilometers.
The plan notes that currently some second and third-category industrial lands are located near sea or lakes, which will affect the high-rank homes there, and that therefore future planning use of such lands should be adjusted according to the new situation. A key message contained in the plan is that by 2012, we must eliminate the mutual dysfunctional disturbance caused by different planning of the land, bring the emergency channels into consideration, strengthen the cohesion of roads on the island and gradually improve public facilities and environment, so as to build the model habitat of harmonious waterside homes.
