Nepal Judo Association (NJA) on Wednesday (July 14) selected a 10-member preliminary squad for the 16th Asian Games slated for November 12-27 in GuangZhou.
Among the six women selected were Sushila Adhikari and Radha Devi Rai of Nepal Police and Laxmi Rai of Kathmandu in 52kg, Debu Thapa of Nepal Police, Chonu Gurung of Bhanubhakta Higher Secondary School Dojo and Ranju Rai of Parsa in 63kg category. Deepak Krishna Shrestha of Multipurpose Martial Arts Center, Raj Bahadur Chand of Nepal Police and Karna Bahadur Bohora of Nepali Army were picked up in the men’s 73kg while Rajan Joshi of Lalitpur was selected in above-100kg. Joshi was selected automatically after the player was the only one registered in the category. One judoka each from each of the weight categories will represent Nepal in the Asiad.
“The selected players will be kept under closed camp training beginning here from July 18,” said NJA in a release.
