As the 2010 GuangZhou Asian Games approaches, many “Xiguan Post Houses” filled with Xiguan customs and Lingnan characters decorate the busiest section of Guangzhou nowadays. On October 26, the Asian Games volunteer service station, “New Life Post House” terminal and New Life Volunteer Space have been established at Guangzhou Youth Cultural Palace. As the “brain” of the “Xiguan Post House”, during the Asian Games, “New Life Post House” will manage more than 500 sub-stations, and provide 50,000 Asian Games volunteers with in-time logistical service and support.
As the appearance of “New Life Post House” is full of Xiguan customs, after several rounds of selection, it has a nice nickname – “Xiguan Post House”. As suggested by someone in charge from Volunteer Department of Asian Games Organising Committee, since the first New Life Post House was launched last December, the location work of more than 500 sites has been fully completed, and more than 220 sites have been put into operation. All “Xiguan Post House” will be fully operating and serving customers in November.
The “Xiguan Post House” scattered across many streets, communities, hotels, scenic spots, commercial plazas and around the venues. 50,000 volunteers recruited by Volunteer Department of Asian Games Organising Committee, have become masters of these “Xiguan Post House” service centres. The major task of these service facilities is to provide consultation, emergency rescue, translation and propaganda for the general public and guests. Meanwhile, they should also coordinate with professional volunteer services, such as holding stability, building civilisation and promoting the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.
