The Double Seventh Festival, celebrated on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, is a traditional festival called Qiqiao, during which young women dress up in their most beautiful handmade clothes and pray the goddess to bestow upon them greater talent and weaving skills. Held from August 12 to 16, over 1,000 beautiful traditional artworks are being exhibited at the South Sea Goddess Temple in Huangpu District, GuangZhou.

This is the 4th year the government has organised this festival. In addition to the display of handicrafts, this year a Qiqiao Culture Seminar shall be held, as well as a 1,000-year old jackfruit auction, a Qixi food tasting event and even a romantic dating opportunity to commemorate Niulang and Zhinv, the two imaginary characters who gave birth to this tradition.
