Public voting for the “Top 10 Drawcards” in Panyu District, which started in June, has concluded. The 10 landmarks receiving the most votes are the Lotus Mountain Scenic Area, Chimelong Holiday Resort, Baomo Garden, Yuyin Garden, GuangZhou Higher Education Mega Centre (Guangzhou University Town), Guanzhou Asian Games Town, Dafu Mountain Forest Park, South Guangzhou Railway Station, Shawan Ancient Town, and Panyu Museum.

In June, residents and businesses in Panyu District were encouraged to vote for their favourite attraction by phone, via the Internet or by mail, and even an expert panel was formed to determine the quintessential landmarks in Panyu. The voting process took two months. The top 10 landmarks will receive strong preservation efforts to make them Panyu’s top drawcards.

A list of Panyu’s top 10 special folk crafts was also unveiled. They are Shawan ginger milk, Panyu cured meat, Xiangjian dried crocodiles, Zhongcun peanuts, Xinzao sweet potatoes, Dashi “three treasures”, Meileduo, Panyu rice noodles, Panyu Guangzhou embroidery, and Panyu Guangzhou glazed porcelains.
