Qiqiao Festival, china’s Valentine’s Day, is just around the corner. It’s a traditional holiday for women to show of their ingenuity and express their aspirations for conjugal love and friendship.
Huangpu District officials have announced that the 4th Huangpu District Qiqiao Cultural Festival will run from August 12 to 16, and that entries will incorporate Asian Games elements.
The festival will open in the square in front of the South Sea God Temple on August 12 and a number of folk artisans will be presented with awards for lifetime achievement.
At the opening ceremony, visitors will have an opportunity to sample Huangpu’s folk delicacies, such as radish and taro cakes, “thousand-layer cakes”, and “Sister Seven’s bean vermicelli”. A vast array of ingenious folk artworks will also be put on display.
