Main responsibilities of the Research Office of the People’s Government of GuangZhou Municipality (Office of Economic Restructuring of Guangzhou Municipality):

1. Drafting the Government Work Report; drafting and editing independently or together with other departments concerned the manuscript of the chief government officials’ reports or speeches as well as other important documents and manuscripts of the municipal government.

2. Undertaking the investigation and research on special issues assigned by the municipal government as well as other major issues arising from socioeconomic development and to propose solutions thereto.

3. Coordinating and guiding the investigation and research of all the departments in the municipal government; and organizing citywide investigation and research on key subjects with other relevant departments.

4. Undertaking the work of secretariat of the policy-making advisory panel to the municipal government.

5. Undertaking the investigation and research on economic system reform.

6. Undertaking other tasks assigned by the municipal government and relevant departments at higher levels.
