The Liwan district government has pledged to clean-up the water and transform this new four-kilometer riverside walk into a major tourist attraction.
Local authorities have spent 4.37 billion yuan in undoing the mistakes of the past. As an insider explained, “most of the money is spent on removing the cement slabs”. What’s more, a derelict old building from the 1970s inside Liwanhu Lake will also be torn down.
