The “AmCham Mead Johnson ‘Help the Kids’ Charity Concert” held on June 22 at GuangZhou’s Xinghai Concert Hall drew a crowd of approximately 1,500 classical music aficionados and, in the process, raised 800 Thousand  yuan, far more money than had been expected by completely selling out the venue.

Featuring chinese superstar pianist Zhao Yinyin, the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra led by Lin Daye, author and pianist Mark Obama Ndesandjo, Hong Kong entertainment veteran Philip Chan and rising star Dylan Sterling gathered at the charity concert. It is just announced yesterday (June 21) that Dylan Sterling will co-star with Aarif Lee in a motion picture about the life of gong fu legend Bruce Lee being directed by Wai Man Yip. This motion picture with a budget of RMB 200 million will be released on November 27 which is Bruce Lee’s 70th birthday.

The ensemble drew an equally distinguished audience, including top-level officials from the Guangzhou municipal and Guangdong provincial governments, foreign Consuls General, representatives of major multinational corporations and a group of those the endeavor aimed to help: orphaned and disabled children.

In addition to ticket proceeds, several members of the business community donated large sums of cash to fund life-saving medical procedures for orphaned children, with childcare brand Mead Johnson donating 300,000 yuan alone. In total, the concert is expected to give many children the chance to live a full life, and to help finance their education and growth.
