High-tech enterprises in Shenzhen, 64% are joint ventures, and foreign investment dominant. A large number of foreign high-tech companies to become major force in the development of high-tech industry in Shenzhen.

At present, the Shenzhen mini-computers, program-controlled switches, printers, computer hard drives, computer monitors, interferon, bio-hepatitis B vaccine, Ni-MH batteries and other products rank first in the output of the initial formation of the electronic information, biotechnology, new materials, mechatronics, and laser group of five leading industries, with Huawei, ZTE, Sinovac, the Great Wall, Coe and a number of key enterprises with independent intellectual property rights. 1998-2001, boosting the city’s high-tech industry an average annual GDP growth of about 4 percentage points, to Shenzhen’s economic role in promoting the shows.
