Starting May 31, 30 “super buses” were put into use on the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) line B1, increasing the total number to 36.
The 18-meter “super bus”can accommodate 150 people while the current 12-meter version carry 70 to 80. The BRT Company estimated that transportation efficiency could rise by 30 percent with the addition of the new buses. “We are confident that the move can largely relieve the crowded situation in rush hour, thus providing a more comfortable environment for passengers.” said the BRT Company. Among the BRT’s 31 lines, 30 run 12-metre buses.
The BRT Company also plans to transfer some normal 12-meter buses for line B1 to support Line B27, which will partly relieve its over-crowding issue.
