The leading brand of outdoor clothing Moncler started its first flagship store in Via della Spiga of Milan on September 22, 2008. This store which is decorated with Moncler symbolic wood and stone is 1350 square feet, as warm as other Moncler stores.
This flagship is designed by the Gilles & Boissier architect design firm. The design concept involves the DNA of Moncler brand. “The opening of this flagship is a landmark of Moncler’s internationalization.” says Remo Ruffini, Chairman of the Board and Chief Creative Director of Moncler.
The chairman Remo Ruffini says the first Moncler store in America will be opened in Aspen, Colo. in December. And the second one will be started in Vail, Colo.
Ruffini adds that he plans to run several shops in New York, Boston and Chicago. He says, “Only in recent three years that we begin our business in America, but the sales is good even during the time that the dollars’ falling”. So far, the sales volume has reached to 10 million euros.
The retailed plan of Moncler focuses on Chamonix and Megève in France, Saint Morits and Crans-sur-Sierre in Switzerland, and Cortina D’ Ampezzo in Italy. Meanwhile, the brand will march toin December.
Carlyle Group owns 48% stake of Moncler SpA in August, while Ruffini owns 38%, and the rest belong to other sponsors. Ruffini says there will be little changes so far, therefore the change would not be ended up until December.
The net profit of Moncler was 18 million euros last year, or 24.7 million US dollars under the average exchange rate. The total income was then 253.7 million euros.
Ruffini thinks that the new high-end men’s series Gamme Bleu is very nice. The selling of accessories which are sold at 250 sales points also keep increasing. Gamme Bleu is the men’s seiries o fGamme Rouge, including a few luxury coats designed by Giambattista Valli to highlight the details of masculinity.
