The GuangZhou city, the host city of the 16th Asian Games, greeted media from home and abroad heading for the Games Second World Press Briefing with hospitality and sunny weather on Wednesday as the four-day event started with a tour to the Asian Games venues.
Journalists from the world media giants were in the city for the Second World Press Briefing of the 16th Asian Games and to check on the progress of media services in advance of the November 12-27 Games.
The Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC) led a venue tour to the Main Press Centre (MPC) and Media Village of the Asian Games Town (AGT) in the morning as well as the Guangzhou New TV Tower (opposite Haixinsha Island, the venue of the Games Opening & Closing Ceremonies) and Guangdong Olympic Aquatics Centre which will be the main venue for Swimming and Diving in the afternoon.
Located in the south of Guangzhou, the AGT covers an area of 2.73 km2 and consists of seven major parts, including the Athletes’ Village, the Technical Officials’ Village, the Media Village, the MPC, the Logistics Area, the Gymnasium, and the Asian Games Park.
During their visit to the MPC, staff for GAGOC introduced the layout, functional operation, transportation nearby and a wide range of services to be delivered during Games-time to international friends in the media, which earned compliment and admiration from the accredited media.
