“Wu” means “Five” in Mandarin.

“Wu Xian Guan” (the Temple of the Five Immortals) was built to worship the five celestial gods which are said to have descended upon GuangZhou riding five rams holding spikes of rice in their hands.

The 300-year-old “Wu Yan Qiao” (Five-arch Bridge) is located on Shi Wei Tang road and runs across Xiushui River. It’s the oldest stone bridge in Liwan District and in the past, the bridge served as a major route linking Guangzhou and Foshan.

“Wu Feng Cun” (Five Phoenix Village) used to be a small village. Today, it is a fully developed community and has lost much of its original features.

“Wu Shan” (The Five Mountains) is located in the north-east of Guangzhou. These small hills are now home to a couple of Guangdong’s big universities and colleges. At the bottom of Wushan road is Gangding, the biggest computer shopping centre in Guangzhou.
