The Automated People Mover system (APM) at Zhujiang New Town has undergone a 14-hour test, with the results indicating the system is good order and ready for operations, according to the Metro Company.

The AMP line at Zhujiang New Town is the world’s largest underground unmanned mass transit line. It will be put into trial operations ahead of the Asian Games.

The system is expected to facilitate passenger flows in the heart of Zhujiang New Town. The main venue for the opening ceremony of the Asian Games is located near the Haixinsha Station on the AMP line.

In the test, an AMP vehicle departed from the Chigangta Vehicle Depot at 9:30 AM and drove past nine stations to reach the Linhe Terminus before driving back to its starting point. The round trip took 14 hours. The test was aimed at finding out if the entire length of the APM system is up to maximum operation and track standards.

The APM will be subject to communication and other tests in coming days.
